Josh Levine is a queer Jewish writer whose unique perspective infuses his storytelling with humor, heart, and authenticity.

Josh creates stories and characters that explore unconventional relationships and the special - yet sometimes blurry and messy - line that separates family from friendship. Josh’s stories aren't afraid to delve into the uncomfortable, sometimes dark aspects of life, while always staying grounded and finding the humor in the characters' struggles.

Josh's love for writing is rooted in the collaborative process, a passion that likely stems from his theater background. He thrives on working with others, whether it's brainstorming new feature ideas with a producer or utilizing his story ninja skills and obsession with structure in the writers' room. He has experience working on set, producing episodes, and has been recognized as a story generator who can turn around a solid draft. Josh's ability to hold a season in his head and chart characters and turns across episodes had made him an invaluable asset to the writer’s room. As his therapist can attest, Josh prefers to never be alone, which makes this entertainment industry a perfect fit.

In television, Josh served as Executive Story Editor on Steve Levitan's Hulu comedy REBOOT, for which he wrote and produced two episodes. Other writing credits include MS. MARVEL for Marvel Studios, Peter Tolan's FX series BELATED, and the Emmy-nominated Season 2 of Hulu's critically acclaimed comedy PEN15. His episode for PEN15 ("Sleepover") was named one of "30 Best TV Episodes of 2020" by Entertainment Weekly.

For features, Josh most recently wrote a road trip comedy for Paramount Pictures and Broken Road Productions. His other feature credits include the animated four-quadrant action-adventure THE PIRATE PRINCESS for Mattel and Curiosity Ink.

A graduate of The Theatre School at DePaul University, Josh began his career in New York as a playwright. His play HOMEMADE received the Kennedy Center's Mark Twain Prize for Comic Playwriting. His play I LOVE YOU, I LOVE YOU was chosen by Smith & Krause for inclusion in their "The Best Ten-Minute Plays 2014." Josh also received his MFA from Mason Gross School of the Arts, Rutgers University where he also taught screenwriting.

Hailing from Orlando, FL, Josh spent many years honing his craft as a playwright in Chicago and New York before making the move to Los Angeles in 2014 to pursue a career in television and film and to start a family with his husband. As his mother is happy to report to anyone who asks (and even those who don’t), Josh and his lapsed Catholic husband couldn’t be happier as the proud parents of two adopted biracial daughters and one clingy rescue dog.

Josh is a proud member of the WGA, and he is represented by CAA, Grandview and Cohen Gardner LLP.
